Each child will have a reading book which they are encouraged to read at home. There are a selection of books available in the classroom and in the library. The children read with an adult at least once every week, however it is still important to listen to your child read at home, checking their understanding of vocabulary and inference and deduction skills.  When you listen to your child read please record this in their home school diary.

Children will receive their spellings every Monday, a topic homework on a Wednesday and a piece of maths homework every Friday. Spellings will be tested on a Monday. Topic homework and maths homework need to be completed/ handed in on a Monday.

If there are any problems with homework, children can come and ask at any point and we will go through it together.

The children have been given a home school diary.  We use this to record any key messages and also when your child has read their reading book in school to an adult or independently.  If you would like to send in a message into school it can be written in here. I will check these on a daily basis; it therefore needs to be in school every day and I will sign them at the end of each week.  I would be grateful if parents could do the same please.

The children should be ready for each lesson, with a pencil case containing a pencil, pen, ruler and rubber. They must have a book bag containing their reading book, home school diary, homework book and any letters that are being sent in/home. Stuck in their home school diary each child has their password for Active Learn and Purple Mash.
